The New Testament contains a number of letters (known as epistles) written by the Apostle Paul to individuals and groups of believers. Through 2013 we'll be working through one of these letters; Ephesians. The first part of this series we've entitled What Kind of Church?
In the 1st Century the Apostle Paul arrived in Ephesus (situated in modern day Turkey) and spent two years living in the city spreading the message of Jesus Christ. Chapter 19 of the book of Acts recounts Paul's two year stay and was the focus of our I Predict A Riot series (in January & February this year) which served as introduction to our new What Kind of Church? series.
Later Paul wrote again to the believers in Ephesus in this book Ephesians which is the focus of our What Kind of Church? series. For every generation of Christians, the book of Ephesians has contained rich spiritual and practical insight. In this little letter, we have one of the clearest and ‘highest’ views of what God has done in freely saving individuals to be His people.
