Who is Jesus? God, myth or just a man? This autumn at Church of Christ the King we are asking the people of Brighton & Hove to share their opinion of who they think Jesus is.
So far we've had all sorts of responses. Some describe Jesus as the 'Son of God' others think he's a 'fictional character', 'a character from a badly written book', 'the delusion of millions' and even 'half man, half poodle'. Also, 72% of respondents to the site have polled that they think Jesus is a myth.
This initiative follows the statistics published in the National Census in 2001 which showed that 66,955 of the city's 247,817 residents actively described themselves as having no religion. This was the highest proportion (27%) of any area of the country, and has led to Brighton being described as the 'most Godless' place in the UK. Even this last week the Guardian newspaper described Brighton as 'the least religious place in Britain'.
So we're setting out to discover what does Brighton & Hove, the 'most Godless place' in the UK, really think about Jesus. Visit our website and tell us today.
Alongside the website we'll be looking at this question, 'Who is Jesus' on Sundays at CCK from October right through till Christmas. Read more about the series here.
