On 13th April, lead elder Joel Virgo started his new preaching series, Jesus' Songbook.
The biggest book in the Bible is in the very middle: a collection of ancient songs, penned by the people of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, designed to guide us in our approach to the living God. Although written and compiled centuries before Jesus, like all the Old Testament, it points emphatically towards him (Luke 24.44).
These are the songs Jesus sang – and the songs which only he can truly sing as they express the perfect worship he alone can offer the Father. Here in the Psalms we see Jesus in his righteousness, in his humility and suffering, his wisdom, his patient faith and in his royal reign. Seeing Father, Son and Spirit up close in the Psalms gives us the tools we need for worship, prayer and a God-drenched life.
The plan is to upload audio and video recordings of this series each week. You'll be able to find them here.
