About this website
Obviously, this site is a work in progress, and we hope it always will be. It will always need to be enlarged, developed, amended, changed, brought up to date and be in constant use by church members, interested Christians around the neighbourhood, the nation and the globe, and as a point of reference for anyone else who wants to know more about our life as a community of God's people in this exciting city.
Three phases
Phase One is now complete, and these pages represent the welcome mat the church lays out at its doorstep. In addition, there is information here which is open to everyone. These include news about Kids meetings, leadership and communication details, downloadable resources, forthcoming Alpha courses, special events, our Social Action programme, etc. There are also members-only pages, which are only relevent to those at whom they are addressed - invitations to Leaders' events, details of training, forums for small group discussion etc.
Overseeing the development and Phase One was elder David Fellingham, working closely with Neville Jones and Adrian Willard, and they all contributed their unique wisdom and energy.
Phase Two has also reached a conclusion. This saw the development of a website culture around the office, such that the website's database of members and meetings was the only one used. We've worked to ensure that every church member's details are accurately represented (or concealed, if that's what they wished) and that the administrative aspects of the powererful software were fine-tuned to ensure they woudls erve us well.
The way Phase Three will function can best be described by means of an example.
Suppose you’re a member of the choir, volunteer for the baby room once a month, and have registered for the next Holy Spirit day. You’re also considering becoming an assistant table leader at the next Alpha course.
When you log on to the site using your unique log-on details (usually your e.mail address plus a password known only to you), the site will present to you the most recently-updated information about choir rehearsals and appointments, the next time you appear on the baby room rota, details about the Holy Spirit day, and all the upcoming Alpha courses CCK is running around the city with vacancies for assistant table leaders. You will also receive automatic e.mails reminding you of upcoming dates on the baby room rota.
Obviously this isn't done by telepathy or with mirrors, but because you've expressed your interest in having this information or have joined the various user groups for these activities. There’s much more to it than this, but we feel it’s an exciting and streamlining development. It means you can find out answers to most questions directly from the website without making a phone call to the office.
