Children: a gift from the Lord
|
|
|
The excellent children's work at CCK has recently undergone some significant changes, under the direction of Stephen Dawson, assisted by Jo Fahy.
There are three key aims: to help childen to be
Engaged
We want to see children engage with God by providing an environment and cultivating an expectation where children will grow in their relationship with God through gospel-centred teaching, worship and prayer.
Connected
We want children to be able to connect with their peers and with children's workers and enjoy an authentic fellowship and discipleship.
Captivated
We want children to be captivated by providing a morning programme that is fun, high quality, age relevant, varied and leaves them excited about coming back next week.
Chldren's work on Sunday mornings begins at 9.50am, with a variety of age groups with the overall title of Cogs - Children of God.
'We work hard,' explains Jo Fahy, 'to make sure that every child’s needs are provided for, and we give training to our staff, most of whom are volunteers, but all of whom are eager to give their best for the sake of the next generation.
'Each Sunday morning sees a huge number of workers setting up rooms, preparing toys and activities, praying together and welcoming groups of children before the morning can begin. Then they serve with stories, games, crafts, songs, puppets, group-time – in fact, everything suitable for the age group with which they’re working. And then it’s time to pack up and welcome back the parents.
'It’s a joy to see the lives of the children being shaped and changed as God speaks to them, as we teach them from the Bible and as parents encourage their children to learn the lessons we’ve prepared.'
All of our teams are required to attend our Child Protection Training, which includes signing up to our Child Protection policy document (click here to read this) and are required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
