Small Groups

CCK members Steve & Karen Boon say 'Being part of one of the biggest churches in this city is terrific, and we love to do more than just rock up on a Sunday. We long to do life well... and together. God has called us into a huge family, in a great and varied city.

'One of the ways we nurture and maintain relationships in such a large church is to meet up in smaller groups during the week. There are many different types of groups, such as ones specially tailored for youth, for students, 20's and 30's, family groups, and retired groups as well.

'We've also got some groups which cover all the generations, and other groups which have a particular focus or have a heart to reach out to their locality. But the main key to it all is to do life together.

A chance to pray, share joys and sorrows, to laugh, to discuss what God is teaching you, to help others and to live the Christian life beyond Sundays

Don't be anonymous!

'We don't want anyone to get 'lost' in the crowd. So we encourage you to belong to a group of between 10 and 18 people that meets in someone's home every week (the location might vary as diffferent members host the evening).

The purpose of the meeting is to pray, chat, worship God together, discuss the main points of the preaching from the previous Sunday, grow in our love for God, get to know each other, laugh together, drink coffee and eat biscuits  - in the better groups of Hove they have Jaffa Cakes, you know.

'Of course, part of our life together means discovering ways we can help each other with practical needs, reaching out to the local community and work colleagues, carrying each others' burdens, etc. This means that we grow together and serve the people with whom we come into contact in daily life, at work, at the school gate, in the shops - wherever!

There's so much more to church life than Sundays! Making close friendships and feeling supported, loved, encouraged and that we're in this together is a hugely important part of why God has called us to be in this church. We love it!'
